Each Wednesday, we’ll try to post a word or phrase in one of our new languages (Slovak and Romani) that will give you a glimpse into the place we’re going.
Today’s phrase:
SLOVAK: áno [AH-no] and nie [nyeh] *
MEANING: áno means “yes,” and nie means “no.”
With the seriousness of someone who has made the mistake before, Shane reminded us that we cannot say “Uhhh… no” like we do in English from time to time, because in Slovak that means “yes!” This would be an important distinction to make.

* In Slovak, emphasis always falls on the first syllable
Got it. Test me later. I’m well on the way to speaking another language….uhhhh…no, OPPS! love, lucy
