On Wednesday evening we rolled into Birmingham in time to spend the evening with the folks at Baptist Church of the Covenant. What a great visit we had! First, we enjoyed a meal with lots of BCOC friends we haven’t seen in a long time. Then we spent a few minutes with the children’s mission group, for a candid interview about some of the more personal aspects of the mission field – what will you eat? Where will you sleep? The kids had done a fundraiser recently, and had chosen to give us part of their proceeds. This time might end up being the highlight of the trip!
In the evening prayer meeting with the adults, the BCOC folks listened attentively, asked some very insightful questions, and literally surrounded us with prayer for our ministry. Many thanks to the folks at Baptist Church of the Covenant, and particularly Valerie Burton who arranged the visit for us and Kit Hefner who planned the delightful children’s time!
On Thursday and Friday we spent time at our Alma Mater, Samford University. We saw several professors and friends, and made some new connections as well. We also had an encouraging visit to the Global Center at Beeson Divinity School.
Thanks to our friends Patrick and Sharon Chappell for hosting us Wednesday and Thursday nights – for some great food, thoughtful conversations, and lots of laughs!
