Spotting Jesus – Those Who Need Him

I saw Jesus a couple of evenings ago in a small one-room house in a Roma settlement, as we sat in a circle with 11 Roma adults during their weekly time of Bible study and prayer. We were visitors among them and they were nervous at our presence, but God’s Spirit was very present in that little room.

I saw him on their faces in their earnest prayers and as they marveled over a miraculous story from the Bible. I heard him in their voices as they sang simple songs of praise, and saw him in their eyes as they wrestled together with the many problems they face as a community.

I have begun to notice I see Jesus most often in the prayers of those who really need to call on him every day, those who have no one else (or no-thing else) to turn to.

Where do you see Jesus most often?
