Request for Prayer: CHE and Training Conference

This week we have been at a training conference in Hungary for Community Health Evangelism (CHE), which we’ve mentioned here before.  CHE is a method of working in communities to bring about spiritual, physical and social health as a way of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.  This is the same CHE we were talking about when we asked for your prayers for our January 20 meeting.  Now we’re receiving more training in this method, with hopes that we can begin to teach others to use the CHE principles and methods among Roma in Slovakia.

We still have two more days of intense training, and we ask for your prayers…

  • for physical and mental strength as we are tired and fighting sickness in a time when we need to be attentive and active.
  • for our girls and for Tanya’s parents, who taking care of them back home in Kosice – Kaitlyn has been home sick with a fever.
  • for wisdom as we listen and take in all this information, to know how best to apply it to the work we’re already doing in Slovakia.
  • for a conference we hope to hold in April, to train local Slovak workers and leaders in using the CHE method.
This training will allow us to begin recruiting and training others in ways to reach communities with Jesus' Good News.

One of the joys of these conferences - worship times with people from at least eight different countries!

The CHE method involves active and participatory learning. Here we're discussing how to help a community figure out how to begin addressing their own needs.
