Last week we got an invitation to a party! In a village that’s been around for more than 700 years, there’s very seldom a reason to celebrate something new. But this past Sunday, a new community park opened on a plot of land that’s been sitting empty for years… and that’s a reason to celebrate!
The park was built by local volunteers coordinated through Pre Lepsi Zivot (“For a Better Life”), a non-profit organization we’ve partnered with for nearly three years. Based in Rankovce, PLZ works with Roma in area settlements in the areas of education, arts, housing and social services. This garden represents a long-term dream for them and for the village. It will be a place for people to gather, for children to play, and future plans include a community-style garden.
Though we had very little part in making this garden happen, we celebrate with our partners at PLZ and with the people of Rankovce – besides just being a place to come together, this garden represents God’s growing and flourishing work among these beautiful people!
